Copper Coin Ballet Company (CCBC) and Artistic Director Julie Ratz are excited to continue their community partnerships by bringing CCBC’s production of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic, “The Nutcracker” to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum as part of Downtown Springfield Inc.’s Old Capitol Holiday Walks.
Each Wednesday and Saturday evening beginning Saturday, November 26, Copper Coin’s dancers, along with dancers from other Central Illinois communities, will take the stage in the ALPLM’s Union Theatre for a free performance of the classical ballet.
“Nutcracker season is truly the most wonderful time of the year. Tchaikovsky’s classic score under the splendor, generosity, and energy of the season is a joy,” says Julie Ratz, CCBC Artistic Director. “Community and collaboration are vital parts of Copper Coin’s mission. Partnering with DSI and the ALPLM to provide this free performance as part of DSI’s Old Capitol Holiday Walks will help make this holiday tradition more accessible to our community.”
“The Nutcracker” follows the magical adventures of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they battle with the Mouse King and journey to the Land of the Sweets. Copper Coin Ballet Company’s performances will take place at 5:30 pm each Wednesday and Saturday in the Union Theatre of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum as part of Downtown Springfield Inc.’s Old Capitol Holiday Walks beginning Saturday, November 26, and running through Saturday, December 17. Admission to the ALPLM and CCBC’s performance of “The Nutcracker” will be free on these same evenings.
