Scott Richardson is the founder and executive director of The Legacy Theatre in Springfield. Located in the former Springfield Theatre Guild building on East Lawrence, in 2011 he joined with a group of fearless arts lovers to rescue and renovate what is Springfield’s oldest theatre. Now observing its tenth anniversary, The Legacy Theatre has emerged as an eclectic new voice in the central Illinois arts landscape.
He has directed and/or designed productions for every theatre in the area, including The Muni, the Springfield Theatre Centre, the Springfield Ballet Company, the Center for the Arts, Sangamon Auditorium, and Theatre in the Park at New Salem.
In 2014 he was awarded the Illinois Alliance for Arts Education Public and Community Service Award from the Kennedy Center for the Arts, for his lifetime of contributions to, and support of, the arts.
By day, he works as the mild-mannered art director for corporate communications for Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc.
